in language, i fucking hate exceptions to the rule. they devalue the rule. and if we don't have some sorts of rules then we are left with floating letters, a mish mosh of symbols. communication can only ever be imperfect. - national geographic had to revise the world map years earlier than it had ever had to before. is that significant in some way? is it even really true? i can think of other times in history where boundaries were changing faster than they are now. i don't know if i believe it.
